The Basel economic region is characterised by a few very big names — Roche, Novartis, BASF, Syngenta — and a dense, highly specialised mid-sized sector around them. Added to this are one of Europe’s most important logistics hubs at the Rhine port, an established banking sector and a growing cluster of engineering and technology companies.
